Microneedling involves the puncturing of the skin all over the face and neck with tiny needles to promote collagen production and rejuvenate the skin. Also referred to as Collagen Induction Therapy, the process is designed to diminish the appearance of wrinkles, acne scars, large pores and even stretch marks.

Microneedling is most commonly used on the face to target: Fine lines & wrinkles, acne scars, sun spots, uneven skin tone and reduced elasticity. Microneedling is sometimes used to treat stretch marks on the thighs and abdominal area.

Microneedling is not recommended for those who are pregnant, have certain skin conditions such as eczema or psoriasis, a history of skin scars or have had recent radiation therapy.

Ideal candidates are people with some scars caused by acne or injuries that are visible on the skin; people with fine lines, moderate wrinkles and uneven skin texture; and/or for people with moderate skin looseness and diminished texture and tone.

What are the side effects?
The most common side effect from microneedling is mild bleeding during the procedure, which should cease before the procedure is over. Other side effects include skin irritation and redness directly after the procedure. In some cases skin will appear bruised but this will subside after a few days.

After care

It is important to avoid using any skin care products directly after your procedure. Clean your face using a gentle cleanser for the first 72 hours after your procedure. After three days you may re-adopt your normal skin care routine. Although, your skin may feel more dry than usual.
